STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Thursday arrived in Paris on a working visit.

On the same day, he laid wreath to the Komitas Monument, which is located in downtown Paris, and paid homage to the memory of 1915 Armenian Genocide victims, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informed.

On the same day, Sahakyan visited the residency of the French Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and met with its primate, Archbishop Norvan Zakarian.

Strengthening the Motherland-Diaspora relations, pan-Armenian tasks, and domestic and foreign policy of Artsakh were discussed during the meeting.

Bako Sahakyan highly appreciated the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in preserving national identity in the diaspora and cementing ties with the Motherland.

Next, the NKR President met with Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Vigen Chitechyan.

Consolidating Motherland-Diaspora ties and the Artsakh issue’s fair representation in France were discussed during the meeting.

President Sahakyan stressed the significance of close cooperation between the diplomatic missions of the two Armenian states in these dimensions, and considered this to be an important precondition for achieving desirable results.

The NKR President was accompanied by NKR FM Karen Mirzoyan; Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Vigen Chitechyan; Davit Babayan, head of the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President; NKR Permanent Representative to France, Hovhannes Gevorgyan; and several other officials.
