YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Acting Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan—who is the Co-Chair of the joint commission on economic cooperation between the Governments of Armenia and Qatar—on Monday received Qatar’s Ambassador to Armenia, Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al-Moghaisib, whose diplomatic residence is in Tehran, Iran.

The interlocutors specifically reflected on the preparations for the first session of the aforementioned commission, and agreed to convene this event in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, in June, the Territorial Administration Ministry press service informs. 

They also expressed their willingness to assist in the initiatives to carry out mutually beneficial programs.     Gevorgyan underscored the need for Qatari investments to Armenia.  

In his turn, the ambassador of Qatar informed that a delegation from the Ministry of Labor of the State of Qatar is scheduled to pay a visit to Armenia in the latter half of May. 

Also, the parties reached accordance, whereby a delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar will visit Armenia in June. In this context, Armenia’s deputy PM noted that the entry of Qatar Airways—which is one of the world’s leading airline carriers—to Armenia’s market will help raise the quality of passenger transportation and the competition in this sector in Armenia.

In addition, Armen Gevorgyan and Ambassador Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al-Moghaisib reflected on the chances of opening reciprocal embassies in one another’s countries.
