YEREVAN. – The monopoly of Armenia’s authorities reinforced further with Sunday’s capital city Yerevan Council of Elders elections, opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party noted in its statement on the election results.
“ARF Dashnaktsutyun ran in the elections with an objective of changing the moral and psychological climate in the country. We attempted to substantiate the need to abolish the political monopoly of the ruling party [i.e., the Republican Party].
“But the similitude of the state and the ruling party, the use of administrative resources, [and] the widespread election bribes did their job yet again.
The monopoly of the authorities reinforced further. Now, they have a potentiality of single-handedly governing the country and Yerevan,” the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party statement specifically reads.
