YEREVAN. – The voters accepted election bribes not just by their own fault. The opposition parties likewise are to be blamed because they not only did not join their forces, but they also came out against one another, and the people became disappointed.

Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan, who headed the Heritage-led “Barev, [Hello] Yerevan” bloc’s list for the capital city Yerevan Council of Elders election that was held on May 5, said the abovementioned during a pres conference on Tuesday.

“The opposition was disjointed, [and] the party [i.e., the Prosperous Armenia Party] that had separated from the government was fighting against the opposition parties. The people have lost faith in the opposition parties, and they decided to punish the opposition.

“In addition, the authorities proved that they are unable to hold normal elections, and there is no need to wait that there will be no bribes, [that] the administrative resources will not be used. They themselves announce that they will remain as such,’ Martirosyan noted.

As per the opposition political figure, the ruling Republican Party’s triumph in the Yerevan municipal elections is a result of unlawful actions.
