Russia stands for holding an international conference on Syria under the auspices of the UN, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said after his talks with Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
UN chief arrived in southern Russian resort of Sochi on Friday to discuss details on holding a conference previously agreed on by Russian FM and Secretary of State John Kerry, RIA Novosti reported.
“Secretary General confirmed his support of the initiative,” Lavrov said.
Ban Ki-moon will also meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
