YEREVAN. – If a statement were to be made with respect to Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), the matter of the natural gas price would not have been put in such urgent manner before Armenia.

First Secretary Ruben Tovmasyan of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) Central Committee noted the aforementioned during a press conference on Friday.

In the CPA leader’s words, the matter of increasing the price of Russian natural gas being supplied to Armenia is very topical.

“The raising of the price of gas will have a serious impact on the living standards of the Armenian population. The people are in grave condition, and something definitely will happen in the republic,” Tovmasyan said, and added that all this contributes to emigration.

“We must realize that all world disasters, including the world wars, were born in Europe. The same applies for the US. We need to be with Russia forever. The situation of Armenia will be worse without Russia,” the CPA leader said.

Ruben Tovmasyan recalled that the Communist Party of Armenia favors accession to EurAsEC, since this will solve quite major problems for Armenia, starting from defense.
