YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation from the French Parliament. 

Giving a high assessment to the current level of Armenian-French relations, Abrahamyan noted that the high-degree political discourse and the interaction in several domains are characteristic of the relations between Armenia and France, the NA press service informs.

The Armenian Parliament leader underscored the development of interparliamentary ties and the cooperation within international organizations, and pointed to the close partnership that is established between the two parliaments. Abrahamyan also considered the French Parliament members’ visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) to be important and pleasing.          

In his turn, French National Assembly member Francois Rochbloine thanked Abrahamyan for inviting them and said he notices numerous positive changes in Armenia after each visit. He considered it necessary to enhance Armenian-French interaction, and underscored the need to develop interparliamentary ties and deepen cooperation within international organizations.   

The French delegation members added that they are extremely impressed by their visit to NKR, and they have recorded progress in all of the country’s institutions and in a variety of economic sectors. They considered important that the NKR capital city Stepanakert Airport resumes its operations, and Abrahamyan agreed with them.

The NA Speaker noted that European integration is a primary direction of Armenia’s foreign policy, the country views itself in this family, and underscores close cooperation with European institutions. 

The interlocutors also reflected on regional matters, and pointed to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
