YEREVAN. – Integration with CIS and EU are not processes interfering with each other but are causing some confusion, Armenian Deputy FM said in parliament on Thursday.

“If we are a member of the EU, we could not simultaneously be a member of the CIS free trade agreement. We would not be able to take actions in terms of cooperation with the Customs Union if we were a member of the EU. And vice versa, if a country is a member of the Customs Union, it is not sovereign in many respects. It is not possible to have a free and comprehensive trade agreement,” Shavarhs Kocharyan said, responding to a question of MP Nikol Pashinyan.

However, Armenia is neither a member of EU, nor of the Customs Union, so the current integration processes do not contradict each other.
