YEREVAN. – British Embassy’s annual Queen’s Birthday Party took place in Yerevan on Friday.

The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions, members of parliament, representatives of the Armenian foreign office and business circles.

Addressing the guests, UK Ambassador Jonathan Aves said relations with Armenia are getting stronger. He noted a number of high ranking visitors from UK to Armenia.  

“Of course, this culminated in the visit by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales last month,” he said.

Ambassador Aves said that Britain and Armenia are two countries at the opposite end of Europe.

“But, we are getting closer and are forming our common values on commitment to boost political, commercial, cultural and people-to-people contacts,” he emphasized.

As an example of collaboration, Ambassador Aves named Tony Iommi’s song written for Dorians entry in the Eurovision song contest.

“Sadly, they did not win, but they still came one place ahead of the United Kingdom,” he added.

An exhibition of photographer Nazik Armenakyan titled “UK in Armenia” was presented during the event. The exhibition presented symbols of UK which can be found in Armenia. Among them are the British bus, British brands, Liverpool fans, and of course the photos of Team Ambassador and their family as well as the photo made during Prince Charles’ trip to Armenia.
