Armenia’s position is fully in line with the stance of the international community on settlement on the Karabakh conflict, FM Edward Nalbandian said.
Following his address at PACE, Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers answered delegates’ questions during PACE summer session on Monday.
He said Armenia’s position on Karabakh is in line with the statement issued by the heads of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states Barack Obama, Francois Hollande and Vladimir Putin.
Edward Nalbandian noted that in contrast to Azerbaijan which accepts only one principle, Armenia has expressed support for three principles, namely non-use of force or threat of force, the right of nations to self-determination and territorial integrity of states.
Despite many appeals to abstain from declaration of provocative nature, official Baku continues voicing warlike statements, policy of propaganda, xenophobia and hatred, he added.
As to the problem of frozen conflicts in general, he said the Council of Ministers can contribute to securing dialogue and confidence-building measures. Besides, the issue of frozen conflicts is included by the Secretary General to the priorities of the Committee of Ministers.
Answering the question whether Armenia will use the presidency as a good opportunity to resolve the conflict, Nalbandian said that the Armenian side has no problem on establishing dialogue and holding negotiations. He recalled that dozens of meetings between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as several summits were held.
“The matter is that one of the parties rejects the principles proposed by the co-chairs, even those on confidence-building measures,” he added.
Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers said he will hold a regular meeting with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs the day after tomorrow.
