The Mayor of Marseille Jean-Claude Gaudin awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of Marseilles” the world-famous French singer of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour.

The event was attended by Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan who was on a visit to Marseille within the framework of the “Week of the French-Armenian excellence”.

Charles Aznavour was also awarded medals of the Senate and the province.

Gaudin said that the last time the title of “Honorary Citizen of Marseilles” was awarded in 1947. The event was also attended by the Armenian and French senior officials, artists and guests.

The opening ceremony of Henri Verneuil Square was held within the framework of the program. The ceremony was attended by the children of great director, as well as Armenian and French senior officials.
