YEREVAN. – Iraq’s newly appointed Ambassador to Armenia, Ghazi Taher Khaled, on Friday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President congratulated the ambassador on his appointment, and he expressed confidence that the reopening of the Iraqi Embassy and the ambassador’s assumption of his new diplomatic mission will secure a significant progress in Armenian-Iraqi relations.

Stressing that thousands of Armenians live in Iraq, Sargsyan underscored—in parallel with political discourse—the need to develop economic relations, strengthen cultural ties, and to conduct active interaction within international organizations.

In his turn, Ambassador Ghazi Taher Khaled assured that he will do his utmost to deepen Armenian-Iraqi relations further.

Also, the interlocutors exchanged views on the present-day unstable situation in the Middle East and regional developments.
