BAKU. – Washington believes in the possibility of a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Evelyn Farkas, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, said the aforementioned in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku.   

“I have arrived in Azerbaijan to discuss issues of bilateral relations and cooperation in security,” she said, 1news.az reports.

Farkas noted the existence of close ties between Azerbaijan and US in the field of security, which are “expanding day by day.”

“We are actively cooperating within the framework of the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan,” the US official said.

The Pentagon delegation had a meeting with Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov. The talks were held with the participation of the US Ambassador in Baku, Richard Morningstar.
