Russia is not going to join its South Stream project with the potential European rival Nabucco, RF Minister of Energy Sergey Shmatko told reporters, commenting on an idea suggested by Paolo Scaroni, President of Eni (Italy).

“We do not view this idea in any way. We are stronger because, we have both gas and all the decisions required for launching the construction project. So we are looking forward to the Nabucco project formally competing with us,” Shmatko said.

Last week, Paolo Scanori proposed joining the South Stream gas pipeline and Nabucco to reduce expenses.
