YEREVAN. – Christophe Birvirt, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative and new Head of UN Office in Armenia, presented his letter of accreditation to Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimyan.      

Greeting Birvirt, the deputy FM congratulated him for assuming this post, the MFA press service informs. 

The interlocutors reflected on Armenia’s collaboration with the UNHCR Office.

Hovakimyan noted that the Government of Armenia underscores the activities with the office.

They specifically spoke about the opportunities for providing the broadest possible assistance to the refugees from Syria.  

The Armenian deputy FM expressed confidence that the effective cooperation will continue.

In turn Birvirt assured that the UN Office in Armenia will do its utmost to provide assistance to the refugees in the country.
