YEREVAN. – The “Nationwide March of Independence” organized by civic activists in the Armenian capital is disrupted by arguments between activists and police officers.

The police officers are urging participants to walk on the sidewalk not to block the traffic. Despite the efforts taken by police, at the moment the protesters are moving along Mashtots Avenue. Some drivers are supporting the activists.

The demonstrators are chanting “We are to decide” and “the Republic of Armenia is a sovereign state” mottos.

In this way, the civic activists are expressing their dissatisfaction over President Serzh Sargsyan’s announcement on Armenia joining the Customs Union.
