YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday received General Michail Kostarakos, Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.

The President welcomed the guest to Armenia and expressed confidence that his visit will give a new impetus to the strong bilateral friendly Armenian-Greek relations, which are based on historical and cultural traditions.

Noting that Armenian-Greek relations are developing in an upward direction ever since Armenia’s independence, Serzh Sargsyan said the two countries have formed an active dialogue and close cooperation in the military, cultural, and educational domains.

According to the President, such visits attest to the continuity of bilateral relations and the readiness of the parties to give them a new quality.

The parties also stressed the importance of interparliamentary diplomacy in the strengthening of Armenian-Greek relations, the development of decentralized cooperation between Armenia and Greece, and the common approaches toward a variety of matters that are on the international agenda.

The interlocutors concurred that the potential of the Armenian-Greek cooperation is much greater and they need to be utilized to the utmost.
