Two persons have been sentenced to long terms of imprisonment – 10 months and six years respectively — for carrying banners in support of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of Kurdistan Workers’ Party.

Radikal reported that the two participated in an action of protest on September 6, 2009.

Hayrettin Teğ was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment, and Selahattin Erden to six years ands three months for holding the other end of the banner.

The lawyer stated that the verdict will be appealed. He pointed out that the verdict contradicts the principle of equality.
