Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union does not at all mean the discontinuance of the political discourse with the European Union (EU).

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan noted the aforementioned Tuesday during his talk with Jacek Protasiewicz, Vice President of the European Parliament, in Brussels.

“The European Union has been and continues to be one of Armenia’s most important partners, and the European rapprochement within the framework of Eastern Partnership [is] a priority of our foreign policy,” Abrahamyan added.

He stressed that the deepening of democratic reforms will continue in Armenia.

“We stand ready to further expand our cooperation with the European Union,” the Armenian NA leader noted. In this context, he underscored the ongoing political dialogue along the lines of parliamentary collaboration.

In addition, Hovik Abrahamyan invited the European Parliament vice president to Armenia.

Thanking for the talk and the invitation, Protasiewicz in turn highlighted the development of EU-Armenia relations, and expressed the hope that Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union would not impede the Armenia-European Union cooperation.
