YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction Secretary Zaruhi Postanjyan replaced Ruben Hakobyan as head of the faction.
The parliamentary faction convened a session on Tuesday.
Heritage Board Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan told the aforesaid to news reporters.
In addition, faction MP Tevan Poghosyan became secretary of the faction.
In Martirosyan’s words, Hakobyan made a personal decision to resign, and it is not related to political or internal party matters.
On her part, Postanjyan stated that Ruben Hakobyan’s decision was unexpected.
“But it is not connected with the events in Strasbourg. I stick to my view; we are representatives of different generations, with different approaches,” she stressed.
To note, all session participants had voted in Zaruhi Postanjyan’s favor.
To remind, during the question and answer session at the PACE plenary session in Strasbourg, France, on October 2, Zaruhi Postanjyan had asked Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan the following question:
“You have appeared here [in the PACE session] not by the will of the people, but [rather] as a consequence of organized crime, the theft of the Armenian people’s vote. Therefore you cannot de jure represent the will and right of the Armenian people. [So,] I’ll give you another question. Have you been to a casino in Europe and lost 70 million euros there? And who paid that amount in your stead?”
Posing such question had caused great controversy in Armenia.
