YEREVAN. – Saturday’s founding re-establishment congress of opposition Armenian National Movement (ANM) party wrapped up.

The party program and charter—in which no significant changes not made—were unanimously approved.

Subsequently, the congress delegates elected the ANM Board, which comprises fourteen members.   

ANM’s initiative group member Ararat Zurabyan stated that the inaugural session of the ANM Board will be convened on October 28. 

On his part, initiative group member Hovhannes Igityan noted that they are creating nothing against anyone.

“There was a movement 25 years ago. If there is a large cross-section of activists that are concerned with the same issue, they will unite  one day. And when you create a party, the message becomes palpable, purposeful,” Igityan said.  

Hovhannes Igityan also spoke about Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union. In his words, the latter is not an economic unit, but rather a union that is formed against something and it exploits.
