Thus, reportedly urban population of the world for the first time exceeded size of rural, and by the mid of this century 7 out of 10 will live in urban areas.
According to WHO Director General Margaret Chan, the swell in urban population will be registered in Asia and Africa. While megapolises of these regions are planned and efficiently managed, their population’s health will be in danger.
People will be triply menaced: by infectious diseases, chronic noncontagious diseases as well as risks of car accidents, injuries, violence and crime.
