YEREVAN. – A Maidan is possible in Armenia, too, but without the scenario and the consequences in Ukraine.

National Security Party Chairman, former presidential adviser Garnik Isagulyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

Isagulyan stressed that the situation of the people in Armenia is so bad that a social revolt is possible any minute.
“[But] the way it happened in Ukraine is ruled out in Armenia; there are no right-wing extremist forces here, there are no such pro-Western and pro-Russian manifestations; all that is artificial, and this matter does not interest the [Armenian] society.

“Third, Armenia does not have the resources, the right, so we may turn the street into the leader of the state,” Isagulyan noted.

The ex-presidential adviser stressed that the Armenian authorities are doing somewhat more than the Armenian authorities, especially in terms of being corrupt and not subordinating private interests to state interests.
“And against this backdrop, there may be unrest [in Armenia], which could result in a change in power. The [Armenian] authorities don’t understand that a Maidan may take place [in the country] at their own fault,” Garnik Isagulyan added.
