YEREVAN. – Germany's Ambassador Reiner Morel; said Armenia is a sovereign state and has right to carry out its own policy.

His remark came in response to a question whether West-Russia crisis will affect relations between Armenia and EU, given that Moscow's influence on official Yerevan seems to be growing.

Ambassador noted that in fact “Cold War” is over and has no right to come back, and one should not describe the Ukrainian crisis as something of that time.

“I think no one wants Cold War to come back: the problem between the West and East is to find common ground and exclusively peaceful solution to the crises,” Ambassador said.

Reiner Morel added, in Germany and EU, they are inclined to finding solution not through deployment of troops.

“It is very difficult when the parties have different points of view. It is clear that Russia's actions in regard to Ukraine caused great difficulties in Europe. But we hope that Russia will understand what we want, and we can come to a common solution. If the parties speak not as separate units, but in the spirit of friendly relations excluding the principle of use of force, then I think that Armenia will not suffer from,” Ambassador resumed.
