YEREVAN. – U.S. President Barack Obama is forced to turn a blind eye on some kind of cooperation, of course informal, with Iran and with the structures of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Yevgeniy Satanovsky, head of “Institute of the Middle East” center explained what makes U.S. avoid accelerating air strikes on Bashar Assad's positions. He said there is a complicated situation with Islamists, besides there is necessity to throw Iranian oil to the European market and rely on Iran in the fight against Russia.

“But an order for destruction of Assad, elimination of Syria as a state managed by Alewis, even more so a secular state, has been payed off by Washington: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey have not given up attacks on Assad and make every effort to drive the Americans and NATO as a whole into this game. In this context, we can talk about a kind of a time-out for Assad in its relations with the West, but no more,” Satanovsky told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
