YEREVAN – Armenia-Turkey relations cannot be normalized unless Karabakh conflict is resolved, political analyst Gagik Harutyunyan believes.

“I do not think that Russia can play an active role as a mediator between Armenia and Turkey, but Russian-Turkish relations are developing actively. We must realize that strong Turkey is not in our favor, and weak Russia is even more disadvantageous,” Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Harutyunyan, head of Noravank research center, does not think that Russian side is much interested in mediation for normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.

“Armenia-Turkey relations cannot be normalized until Karabakh conflict is resolved, and Turkey definitely has a tough position on the issue,” he added.
