YEREVAN. – The situation in Syria will remain the same in 2015, with minor changes, Oriental Studies specialist, diplomat Davit Hovhannisyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Commenting on the query as to whether the West will reconcile with the notion that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is the sole accepted leader for the people of Syria, Hovhannisyan specifically stressed: “The bigger problem today is the Islamic State faction which, on the one hand, poses a threat to the entire region from the viewpoint of influence, [and] on the other hand, it is a big headache for Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.”

The Arab Studies specialist added that this situation is advantageous to the major and decision-making global powers.
