YEREVAN. – Not solely the border villages in Armenia are in need of support by the state, opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party MP Hovhannes Margaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the tax benefits, which—pursuant to the recently passed law—will apply to Armenia’s villages bordering Azerbaijan, can also be applied for the rural communities with up to 300 inhabitants.

“There are villages in the [Armenian] republic, where only the village prefect and his wife reside on a permanent basis. There are [also] numerous small villages that are located an hour away from the regional center. I believe the [state] support should be extended to include them, so they may engage in business there, too,” Margaryan specifically noted.

According to the aforementioned new law, the business in Armenia’s border villages is exempt from virtually all types of taxes.
