No one should fire shots during monitoring; this is a rule which the Azerbaijani side has violated, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) Presidential Press Secretary Davit Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He stated the aforementioned commenting on the interruption of Wednesday’s OSCE monitoring of the Line of Contact between the NKR and Azerbaijan armed forces, and due to the shots fired from the Azerbaijani side.

In Babayan’s words, the OSCE monitoring was suspended three or four minutes after it had started, and for security considerations.

“This can also be regarded as a political gesture, which indicates that such demeanor by Azerbaijan is unacceptable,” the NKR presidential spokesperson stressed. He added that the Artsakh side, on the other hand, did not fire shots in response because it is against such conduct.

As per Davit Babayan, such incidents had occurred previously, too, and there were even injuries during monitoring.

“This shows Azerbaijan’s true face yet again; it is a terrorist state,” he said.
