YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has signed a decree.

Accordingly, military conscript, Private Arman Harutyunyan has been posthumously awarded the Medal for Military Service, and in recognition of his exceptional courage and personal bravery during the protection of the borders of Armenia, and his selflessness while carrying out his military duty under life-threatening peril. Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned the aforesaid from the Press Office of the President. 

Harutyunyan was killed on January 17, and as a result of the fires that were shot by the Azerbaijani side.

The defense minister’s press secretary, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, had told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the Armenian soldier was killed at the border zone of Voskevan village in Armenia’s Tavush Region. Harutyunyan was already dead when he was transferred to the Noyemberyan city medical center.
