YEREVAN. – Germany’s position is clear on the Karabakh issue, and we definitely are not guided by double standards.

The German Ambassador to Armenia, Reiner Morell, told the aforesaid to reporters on Friday. He stated this when responding to a query on whether the application of double standards by numerous countries also plays a part in the escalation of tension on the Line of Contact.

“Germany is a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, and we closely follow developments. Germany advocates a peaceful settlement of the issue.

“The [German] Chancellor has stressed that we stand ready to help wherever there is a need,” Ambassador Morell assured.

As reported earlier, the special divisions of the Azerbaijani army had launched an attack, on Friday at around 9am, in the direction of several military positions of the Berd area of Armenia’s Tavush Region.

But being discovered on time by the corresponding divisions of the Armenian army, there began a battle which lasted about half an hour.

As a result, the adversary was driven back, having suffered losses and not carrying out its military task.

But unfortunately, the Armenian side had two casualties and wounded. Lieutenant Karen Galstyan and Private Artak Sargsyan were killed.
