Ambassador of Armenia to the US Tigran Sargsyan on Thursday met with Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA).
They reflected on the agenda of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues.
Ambassador Sargsyan gave a high assessment to Congressman Schiff’s personal role in constantly keeping the issues concerning Armenia and Armenians on the US political agenda. In turn, Schiff reaffirmed his respective commitment.
The interlocutors discussed the present-day situation in the region, especially the escalating tension along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. In this context, Congressman Schiff stressed the priority of exerting efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
They also underscored the need to attract American investments into Armenia.
At the request of Schiff, Sargsyan reflected on Armenia’s recent accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, and the respective prospects.
Ambassador Tigran Sargsyan also briefed Congressman Adam Schiff on the preparations for the commemoration events to be held on the forthcoming centenary of the Armenian Genocide, and highlighted the importance of the US Congress members’ participation in these events to be held in Armenia and throughout the Armenian diaspora.
