YEREVAN. – A week of French entrepreneurs will be held in Armenia this May, French Ambassador Jean-Francois Charpentier told reporters.
The events will be focused on fashion, design on the one hand and wine making on the other.
The French diplomat said that he is in Armenia for three months, and he had met with representatives of government agencies, NGOs, journalists and businessmen. The Ambassador said that as a result of his meetings, he stood firm on his goal to strengthen economic relations between Armenia and France which is indeed one of the most important areas of bilateral cooperation.
According to the diplomat, the current turnover of 50 million euros is a modest figure.
“We need to strengthen communication by using the instruments available,” Charpentier added.
Among the instruments he pointed at Armenian-French Chamber of Commerce, the Armenian-French Business Club, which involves French companies in Armenia, the Armenian Development Fund. In the context of the need to deepen relations, Ambassador expressed his view about the importance of the second Armenian-French business forum. The first forum was held last May.
The Ambassador also noted the importance of further development of the French University in Armenia, which is an important educational center.
