Russia has urged parties to the Karabakh conflict to take effective measures aimed at reducing tension, spokesperson for Russian MFA Alexander Lukashevich said.
“We call to avoid steps leading to escalation,” he said, adding that Russia is concerned over escalation in Karabakh.
Lukashevich said that a very difficult situation is preserved on the line of contact and on Armenia-Azerbaijan border: there is a large number of ceasefire violation cases, clashes and actions of sabotage groups have intensified.
The data provided by OSCE monitoring commission – information that is based on official data – says that 12 people were killed and 18 were wounded in January, Lukashevich emphasized.
“It is clear that in fact the numbers can be higher,” he added.
Russian official recalled that the OSCE statement made in Krakow contained a call to all parties.
“Today the co-chairs are meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister in Munich and will consider situation on the line of contact and on Armenia-Azerbaijan border,” he said.
