YEREVAN. – Visits to Armenia’s military units are organized for the third year in a row for the parents of capital city Yerevan-resident soldiers serving in the border units.
Another group of soldiers’ parents on Friday left for the border military units to see their sons serving there.
Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had come to wish a safe journey to these parents.
The minister and the mayor assured that this initiative will continue and gain more momentum.
Ohanyan, speaking to reporters, underscored the implementation of such joint projects between the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality. He noted that this is yet another important step in further strengthening the army-society relations. As per the minister, the Armenian army needs support of the society, the soldiers’ parents, since such events raise the soldiers’ spirits.
Margaryan, for his part, added that another nice tradition has begun according to which, in addition to parents visiting their soldier sons, the soldiers with a distinguished military service now receive extra leave and come home; this initiative will continue, too.
