World’s largest floating solar power plant has started operations in the Hyogo Prefecture of Japan.
The 2.3-megawatt facility, which uses 9,072 waterproof solar panels, was officially put into operation in May.
The modular platform covers an area of 25,000 square meters, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.
The new floating solar power station can produce around 2,680 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, meeting the demand of some 820 households.
