Three unidentified underwater cables were discovered in the Finnish territorial waters of the Baltic Sea, reported the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper of Finland.

Representatives of the Finland armed forces have not yet commented on this development.

According to the newspaper, two of them are hydrophone cables; that is, they can detect—through a special microphone—sounds and ultrasounds under water. The third is a communications cable.

Naval fleets and navies of several countries make use of similar sea cables, reported the Rosbalt news agency.
