Oleg Mkrtchyan, Armenian Russian businessman and co-owner of Russian gold mining company Polyus Gold, ranked No. 12 in the list of the billionaires, “whose combined coal holdings are equivalent to the entire annual emissions of China, the world’s biggest polluter”, The Guardian reports.

The list is headed by Vinod Shantilal Adani, who has a $900m share in Indian coal company Adani Enterprises.

Adanie is followed by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who owns $766m stake in Steel and Mining Company Evraz. According to the newspaper, he also owns about a quarter of Russia’s largest coal mine, the Raspadskaya coal complex.

The list also includes two other Evraz co-owners, Alexander Abramov (No. 3) and Alexander Frolov (No. 7). 

Overall seven Russians feature in the dirty dozen of coal owners. Thus, Suleiman Kerimov, who owns 40% stake in Russian gold mining company Polyus Gold, is the fifth in the list. Polyus Gold co-owners Gavril Yushvaev and Oleg Mkrtchyan (each holding 19% stake) are No. 8 and 9 respectively.  

Another Russian billionaire Vadim Danilov, in 10th, owns $25m stake in Kuzbass Fuel (KTK), Lenta.ru reports.
