YEREVAN. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as a neutral mediator, assisted humanitarian operation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, representative of ICRC Yerevan office Zara Amatuni told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The operation was agreed on by the parties and was carried out with the consent of both parties. As a result of the operation, the fate of the two missing Azerbaijani soldiers has been determined: they were found dead. The bodies were evacuated from the territory,” ICRC representative said.

The operation was carried out by representatives of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

“ICRC representatives were not on the territory of the search operation, but they were on the both sides of the border,” Amatuni added.

The dead bodies of Musa Sabiroglu and Tural Sahiboglu were found at the neutral zone of the Azerbaijan-Armenia border. According to some reports, they tripped a mine.

The Armenian side, as a sign of goodwill, ensured maintaining ceasefire regime while the search operation and evacuation of the bodies was underway.
