YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Friday received Reinhold Lopatka, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the People’s Party of Austria.

President Sargsyan noted importance of the visit in terms of strengthening of traditional Armenian-Austrian relations and inter-parliamentary ties. The Armenian leader highlighted the role of the party in making decision condemning the Armenian Genocide. He stressed that by recognizing the Armenian Genocide, Austria has made a considerable contribution to prevention of genocides and crimes against humanity worldwide.

The interlocutors agreed that humanitarian and cultural ties are important and promote strengthening of bilateral economic ties.

Mr. Lopatka, for his part, said he believes it is necessary to develop inter-parliamentary ties at several levels: groups of friendship and between separate parties.
