Hero of Paris-Amsterdam train Mark Moogalian is a member of a family of Armenian descent from Virginia, Richmond Times Dispatch reported.

His relatives have been running a grocery for many years, the newspaper writes.

His uncle Harry Moogalian said in an interview that the family could not be more proud.

Moogalian is an artist, sculptor and musician. Together with his wife Isabelle Risacher they formed a duo called Secret Season.

“He has taken a much different path than much of the family and what he has accomplished has been very much on his own,” Harry Moogalian told the newspaper.
