The City Council of Italian town of Ivrea (Piemonte province) unanimously voted to recognize Armenian Genocide on October 12.

The statement says the Council acknowledges historic truth and expresses solidarity with the Armenian nation and their efforts to protect their rights.

Honorary guests of the meeting were Armenian writer and director Vazgen Berbersyan and representatives of the Bational Association of the Italian Partisans (ANPI).

The City Council expressed hope that the European Parliament will take moves to push Turkey to recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide.
