YEREVAN. – The new European Union (EU)-Armenia document will include many elements of the EU Association Agreement.

The German Ambassador to Armenia, Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The mandate, which the European Union gave for the start of a dialogue around a new Armenia-EU agreement, is a legal tool to start talks with Armenia,” noted the ambassador. “Now, we must wait [and see] what this document will look like in the coming months. It certainly will not be as deep as the EU Association Agreement, yet many of the provisions of that agreement will be included in this new agreement.”

The EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday authorized the European Commission and the High Representative to open negotiations on a new agreement with Armenia.
