YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) has the political will to sign a new agreement with Armenia, and I hope our partners in Yerevan will open the door for real progress on this matter.

Vice-President of the European Parliament, Ryszard Czarnecki, who is also Vice Chairman of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, told the aforesaid to reporters at Friday’s discussion on Armenia-EU relations.

Czarnecki, responding to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s query regarding the prospects for these relations after the signing of this new agreement, specifically noted: “I’m confident that together we can open a new phase in our relations. I’m very happy that today [i.e. Friday], a delegation (…) from the European Investment Bank signed an agreement with the Armenian side, on implementing free funding projects. (…). I’m confident that both sides see that prospect.”

He also said the EU sees a good chance for signing a document with Armenia.

“We [i.e. the EU] certainly need to cooperate closely with a country such as you,” Ryszard Czarnecki added.
