The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Friday participated in the Board meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

At the event, which was held in Kazakhstan, presidents of the countries (Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) of this council discussed the most urgent matters and prospects for the development of this union.

The parties also signed several documents that specify the procedure for cooperation with third countries and international organizations.

In addition, it was decided to start negotiations with Israel to set up a free trade zone.

Furthermore, leaders of the union countries confirmed the list of the types of services, and conferred on staff and current issues.

The discussants also determined who will assume the position of Board Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Accordingly, and as of February 1, 2016, this office will pass on to Armenia’s representative, Tigran Sargsyan.
