YEREVAN. – The NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) should not have accused Russia of stirring up conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. 

Member of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Delegation to the NATO PA, Tevan Poghosyan, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday. He stated this reflecting on the results of the recent NATO PA annual session, which was convened this year in Stavanger, Norway.  

To note, the Karabakh conflict was referenced in a NATO PA report on the Russian factor in Euro-Atlantic security. Poghosyan noted that the Armenian delegation had to offer recommendations in this respect. 

“The question is not whether or not Russia has an impact on the conflict; we all know that Russia sells weapons,” he explained. “But the persons behind the report had put this aside and written that Russia had started the Karabakh conflict.”

The Armenian MP added that the writer of this report realizes that his task is to direct the “pointers” against Russia. 

“It was apparent that they wished to just mention the Russian Federation yet again,” Tevan Poghosyan said.

And as per the head of the Armenian NA delegation to the NATO PA, Koryun Nahapetyan, even though this report does not express the NATO official position, attempts need to be made to exclude such formulations already at this phase.
