STEPANAKERT. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Nagorno-Karabakh has a new head.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) Minister of Defense and Defense Army Commander, Lieutenant General Levon Mnatsakanyan, on Tuesday received Patrick Vial, the ICRC Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The NKR Ministry of Defense press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Vial said even though this is his first visit to Artsakh, he is aware of the excellent work and collaboration between the NKR Defense Army and the ICRC Office in Stepanakert, the capital city of the NKR. He also introduced Dragoslav Blazevic, the new Head of the ICRC Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Mnatsakanyan, in turn, congratulated Blazevic on his appointment to this accountable position. He also expressed the hope that collaboration with the NKR Defense Army will continue to be productive and built on a climate of mutual understanding.

In the ensuing talk, the interlocutors exchanged views on future joint activities, and the prospects for cooperation.
