There is significant tension in the Russian-Turkish relations, while Turkey is displaying a clear anti-Assad position, political analyst Ara Papyan believes.

“Turkey wants to see Sunnis in power, and this is in line with Turkey's Neo-Ottomanism policy,” Papyan noted.

Further deterioration in relations with Russia will lead to weakening economy in Turkey, the expert said.

“The weaker Turkey is, the lower is likelihood of interfering into Karabakh conflict,” the expert added.

Papyan urged Armenia to be more active in its policy with the national and religious minority groups in Turkey, especially Kurds and Alawites.
