YEREVAN. – There is not great hope that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet by the end of this year, political analyst Gagik Harutyunyan told reporters on Wednesday.
Harutyunyan, head of Noravank center, noted that there is new logic in the regions, and this is first of all related to Turkey, an ally of Azerbaijan.
“This may lead to more realistic approaches on their side,” he said, adding that Azerbaijan experiences crisis similar to that of Turkey.
“In this context Turkey's provocation policy on Karabakh is likely to weaken. Russia has put a “restraining shirt” on our Azerbaijani neighbors,” he emphasized.
The analyst does not see alternatives to the co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group and thinks that the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan will be settled in a little different format.
“The matter is not solved, because the United States and Russia have different ideas about how the problem should be solved,” he resumed.
