YEREVAN. – Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Hakob Hakobyan does not wish to make predictions on whether businessman Ara Abrahamyan, who is the Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia and the President of the World Armenian Congress, will be successful if he entered politics in Armenia.

Hakobyan, however, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he is not against Abrahamyan’s plans to engage in politics.

At the same time, the RPA MP said he does not share the view that President Serzh Sargsyan will use Ara Abrahamyan in an attempt to fill the political arena that became empty after Prosperous Armenia Party former Chairman and oligarch MP Gagik Tsarukyan had left politics.

“In my logic, every man has his place, and he must fight for his place,” added Hakob Hakobyan.

Ara Abrahamyan has announced that he plans to form a political party which will run in Armenia’s next parliamentary election, which is slated for 2017.
